Eat your heart out!

Dining

Good food in great surroundings is a vital part of life in Malta and locals relish the chance to dine out in one of the many restaurants, ‘trattorias’ and snack bars that are scattered around the islands. Here food is a way of life, and only the best and freshest ingredients will satisfy!

Italian and Mediterranean fare is easily the most popular, with a majority of restaurants serving pasta, pizza, fresh fish and grilled meats. International food is also well-liked and several restaurants specialise in cuisines including: Indian, Chinese, French, Greek, Turkish and Spanish.

While holidaying here don’t leave without trying the specialities that Malta has to offer! Maltese bread is famous the world over for its crusty exterior and gooey, white interior. Pastizzi – filo pastry parcels stuffed with ricotta cheese or peas is extremely popular, while rabbit fried in garlic is the national dish.

Pubbing, Clubbing & Nightlife

With long, warm evenings to enjoy, Malta offers some great nightlife options for night owls! The tourist resort of Bugibba, just a few minutes away by car, offers endless club, pub and bar options, as well as a large cinema complex and Casino.

Further afield, (approximately 20 minutes away by car or bus) Paceville is another nightlife hotspot with a huge variety of the trendiest pubs, clubs and bars. Music is often commercial, although specialised venues play pop, rock, trance and even live music.

Sightseeing

Malta is packed with interesting places to visit and every day brings something new and exciting to do or explore.

The north, where the Ambassador Hotel is situated, is one of the most beautiful regions, boasting the island’s best beaches and some favourite sightseeing spots. Popeye Village, the film set of the Popeye movie starring Robin Williams, is a must for families with young children, while Melieha is a popular beach-side town waiting to be explored.

Valletta, the island’s capital, is brimming with historical treasures including St John’s Co-Cathedral, the St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity and the Grand Harbour. Meanwhile, Sliema is Malta’s most popular shopping district and many of the world’s high-street and designer brands are available here.

A day trip to Gozo, Malta’s smaller and more tranquil sister island, is a must. Take the ferry from Circewwa (the Northernmost tip) and arrive at the port of Mgarr. There is plenty to see here including the world-famous Azure Window, the inland sea, the walled Citadella – which was built by the Knights of St John, and the mysterious Calypso’s cave. If you’re looking for pure relaxation hop on a boat to Comino – the islands’ smallest sister – where there is little to do except lounge in the sunshine!
